I'm a dreamer, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The bad part is that if I dream about something that I want, I get it either by building it myself or saving the money until I can afford it. I want to live life without questions. If I have a question, I want to answer it before it can no longer be answered. I love travelling, and maybe my dreaming philosophy carries into that. Maybe I don't want to exit this life saying that I wished I had done more, seen more, or known more. I've travelled to nearly 20 different countries, but my favorite is still the good ol' USA. I was born into a line of patriots - men who have served their country during every major conflict since the inception of America. I'm a descendant of a signer of the Declaration of Independence, and I, too, serve in the United States Army as an Engineer Officer. I've been deployed twice - once to Iraq, and once to Afghanistan. I'm now the Company Commander of a Drill Sergeant unit, and I'm in the exact middle of my Masters of Business Administration degree, so life is never boring for me. Sometimes I actually wish it would slow down, but I bring the hectic schedule upon myself, so you won't hear me complain about it.
That brings me to the here and now. If you've stuck with me this far, half the battle is complete. At least I know you can stick through my ramblings. The question I have for myself is "why?" Why am I doing this blog? I've never done a blog before, so I guess there's my answer. It's something I haven't done, but I want it to be more meaningful than that. I want to learn as I go, and I want you (by the way, at the time that I write this, I have no readers) to learn with me - or at least share in my experiences. I'd also like feedback. If you become a regular reader, and think there's something I should learn, please post a comment.
In addition to blogging about my experiences, and as the website URL suggests, I want to invest every step of the way. I'm not talking about monetary investments, although I have a lot to learn about those, too, so maybe I'll get into that one of these days. I'm talking about investing in anything - investing in people, experiences, myself, my wife...investing in life. Because what is an investment (if done properly)? It's a means to a better end. It's doing what you may not want to do now in order to get the returns you do want later. It's living life so your kids and their kids are blessed.
Let's go through this journey together. If you're reading this, stick with me. My goal is to post something that I've learned every 2 weeks. Not just something I've learned, but a new skill, or a new plan, or some form of investment that will be inspiring. Let's make the world a better place.
